Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which actually looks like it all year round. The Higman family store and the locations that served as Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are also family-owned stores in real life.
"Chiefs Romance" continues that trend
The Square also features Christmas lights, just like in the movie. 6.7/10 (Recommend) While Hallmark movies tend to be lame and sometimes a bit unrealistic in their romantic possibilities, 2024 has proven to be a great year for Christmas romance. I’m not a football fan, and I’m a little sick of hearing about the Chiefs, but in all honesty this movie was amazing. It was emotionally driven (I almost cried a few times) and had a cast that worked well together.
She takes her role seriously
The chemistry between Hunter King and Tyler Hines was spot on right off the bat. I knew this movie was going to be good the minute they gave me those twinkle eyes. Hunter in particular gives a spectacular performance. She’s visibly shaken and upset when she needs to be, which sells the point of the story.
The story is wonderful
Some Hallmark actresses don’t do that, and I find her standout. It’s told like a real family affair, but given the traditions and superstitions of sports families, there’s no doubt that this situation plays out in personal life year after year. This movie is a little different because it focuses on two people instead of a family love story, so it has more personality. You don’t have to like sports or football to understand what’s going on.
