Blake, the acronym "OBE" is incorrectly explained as “overtaken by events.” In US government agencies, including those in the intelligence community and the Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation of the acronym “OBE” is “Overtaken by Events.” The opening credits feature the series’ characters and scenes interspersed with mirrored panels. Former CIA Director of Counterintelligence James Jesus Angleton, also known as the “spy-poet,” described the Intelligence game as the “Desert of Mirrors,” a phrase taken from a poem by T.S. (The title is Greek for “old man,” and the poem is an interior monologue recounting the opinions and impressions of an old man, describing post-World War I Europe through the eyes of a man who has lived most of his life in the 19th century.) They’re both incredibly underrated actors
For anyone who loves the cat and mouse games involved in the spy world, The Agency is for you. It’s not the best spy series I’ve seen but it’s definitely worth watching. Michael Fassbender is perfect for roles like this, as is Jeffery Wright.
The show may start off slow for some, but it keeps going because it keeps going
Add in Richard Gere and Katherine Waterston and you have one of the most talented casts on television. It just takes its time as it builds its world and characters, but if you don’t have the patience for slow, well-told shows, then this isn’t for you. The Agency does a great job of showing the cost and sacrifices it takes to be in this line of work.
I hope we get several seasons of this
