Line of Events
It follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve as MI5’s detection division for career-ending mistakes. Deep in the credits under “Filmmakers” you can see Alfie Oldman, son of Gary Oldman. He worked on several films in which Gary starred. Appeared in Graham Norton and guest starred: Kristin Scott Thomas/George Takei/Claudia Winkleman/Jamie Oliver/First Aid Kit (2022). In my head Jackson Lamb was Timothy Spall and Katherine Standish was Olivia Coleman, and I think they would hit the mark. The cast is spot on though, they’re all great. Credit to the location scouts as well, Slough House is exactly what I imagined. The mood, intrigue and pacing are as good as Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I really liked these books and I’m glad Hollywood didn’t overdo them, as is often the case with these kinds of productions. The filth and humor that made the books so enjoyable have been retained.
